The most common form of cravings that we get whether we are losing weight or no.This particular craving doesn't need any reason! We crave for it at anytime of the day, no matter what. We crave for it post meals or in the mid-night or while stressed or too happy. It's an integral part of our day-to-day life. It's the cravings to eat something sweet and mainly SUGAR.

Ever wondered why to we crave only for sugar?
Sweet is the first taste that humans prefer from birth.Sugar consumption increases serotonin- a neurotransmitter in the brain, that regulates happy feelings, appetite, memory etc.
Because of the this chemical release, we feel happy temporarily and our brain craves the happy chemical again and again. And that is the reason we crave for sugar in large amounts.Sugar is a carbohydrates, but carbohydrates come in other forms like-wholegrains,fruits and vegetables.
But the taste of the sugar also releases the hormone called endorphins that calms and relaxes us and exactly the reason we crave for sweets more when we are stressed.
The problem comes not when we indulge in a sweet treat now and then, but when we over consume, something that's easy to do when sugar is added to many processed items.

How to curb sugar cravings?
Have in little amounts- Eat a bit of what your craving, you should definitely do this!May be a small size toffee or a small cookie.Enjoying a litte of what you love will do no harm to your body.
Try combining-If you are unable to have in small amounts as my first tip , why don't you try combining a sweet item with a healthy fruit. Eg. Chocolate coated Banana or sugar coated nuts or as simple as a fruit custard. This works wonders with my clients!
Keeps fruits handy- Keep them handy when sugar cravings hit. You'll get fiber and nutrients along with sweetness. Stock up fresh fruits along with nuts, seeds, dried fruits etc.
Choose quality over quality- If you need a sugar splurge, go for sweets items which are relatively healthy like dark chocolate , soft puddings or a fruit custard etc.Try to keep the portion size small.
Get up and Go- If the sugar craving hits, walk away. Engage yourself into exercises or any kind of recreational activities to take your mind off from the food your craving.
Eat regularly-Having longer gaps in your meals would make your body crave for sugary and fatty items to curb hunger.Taking frequent meals would help you maintain your blood sugar levels and thus avoid the "irrational eating behaviour". Go for high protein meals, fiber rich foods to avoid cravings throughout the day as these would help in keeping you fuller for a longer time.
